Late night chats with Chinese colleagues about their holidaying experiences reminded me of this photo: waiting to catch an early flight out of Guilin, China and watching the waves of tourists pass through arrivals and onto waiting busses. As increasing numbers of Chinese explore what to do with disposable income a bit of free time for many their first leisure travel experiences involve tour groups: queues; long hours on the bus; regimented stops for food and photos; and back on the bus to take in everything on the schedule.
