Brighton council had decided to introduce large, waste-truck friendly bins that to the outsider appear like silent, brooding invaders in virtually every other street in the center of this city. What’s unnerving is not just their commanding presence, but that their presence is so readily accepted – none of the locals I spoke to notices them any more, they’e weaved their way into our subconscious understanding of the urban infrastructure.
Lessons here for anyone considering introducing semi-permanent infrastructure into the urban landscape.
