Hardly anyone, it seems wants to visit my final destination today – on our short stopover in Baku, Azerbaijan – I’m the only passenger left in my section of the aircraft. Everyone else including the national Azerbaijani sports team with matching snug-fitting tracksuit tops that would do an Adidas Originals Creative Director proud, shuffle and strut their way down the isle and turn into the waft of hot sunset air.
It’s moments like this, when you’re the last one in an empty space that there’s a flickering moment of doubt: what do they know that I don’t?
Landing to Turkmenistan in a couple of hours.
