Presentation of research into the communication practices of illiterate people, and how it frames designing for this community. Whilst the results are relatively nuanced (there is no silver bullet when it comes to illiteracy) this has been some of the more rewarding research we’ve carried out: the topic matter; and the impact – the research has affected the design of mobile phones that have now sold in the hundreds of millions.
