The Value of Used Objects

San Francisco: The value of used objects

Gazelle.com appealing to base instincts feels very much like its 2005 all over again.

The perceived and actual value for used objects?

What happens when you know the real-time market rate for everything around you? Objects reduced to a number?

The markets it creates?
How it changes people’s sense of ownership? Use? Abuse?
The ability to time and location shift the exchange of objects?

Taobao, Rakuten, Ebay and increasingly Amazon – the latter as the seller of new objects, and the tracker of how long you’ve owned it, and when you are likely to want to sell it.
