Marsa Matruh: road tunes

Every road trip needs a soundtrack – our journey down to the Egyptian-Libyan border supplied by Sayed Mekawi et al, and piped through this Jawbone Jambox – available in Black, Grey, Blue and Red, if you go in for the Amazon thing.

One of the nuanced design features on an already exceptionally thought out product/service is the rubberised upper and lower casing. Beyond surviving drops, the texture and forgiveness in the surface supports wider a range of playing positions – wedged under the headrest, jammed above the rear-view mirror. A damage-free interior goes down well with our driver, Yasser.

Thoughts for today: the extent to which surface texture and flexibility supports positioning; and how increasingly high quality personal devices remove the need for longer term infrastructural investments – from airplanes to vehicle interiors.
