Visitors to China wanting to duplicate a lost car key (or interested in knowing how easy it is to remotely steal someone else’s key) should head down to Shanghai’s Yi Tong International Automobile Fittings Town (上海一通国际汽配城). A key reader is your’s for around 1300 RMB (~128 Euro) and a writer for around 1500 RMB (160 Euro).
And the circuit board? For those with a little more vehicular access and time on their hands – override the existing security circuitry by installing your own.
Having your collar felt by the authorities may or may not be optional.
